As CEO, Crespo is focused on strengthening execution, operational discipline, and financial performance while maintaining the company’s strategic direction and long-term vision for the hydrogen economy.
Under his leadership, Plug continues to advance its integrated hydrogen ecosystem model, with active global deployments across fuel cells, electrolyzers, hydrogen production plants, and fueling infrastructure. Crespo emphasizes operational excellence—prioritizing uptime, system performance, and customer productivity—as the company enters a phase defined by large-scale delivery and global execution.
Crespo led Plug’s commercial organization during a period of significant scale, helping grow revenue from approximately $20 million in 2014 to more than $700 million in 2025. Throughout his tenure at Plug, Crespo has been instrumental in driving both top- and bottom-line growth by aligning commercial strategy, cost discipline, and customer success initiatives. He has played a central role in building a sales funnel exceeding $8 billion in transformational opportunities and strengthening long-standing relationships with key global customers, including Amazon, Walmart, and Home Depot. His leadership ensures continuity as Plug accelerates its path toward profitability through margin improvement, capital efficiency, and disciplined growth.
Crespo joined Plug in 2014 and has been a key contributor to shaping corporate strategy and execution for more than a decade. He has helped scale the company’s global commercial footprint while supporting the deployment of hydrogen solutions that enhance productivity, resilience, and energy independence for customers worldwide.
Prior to joining Plug, Crespo served as Vice President of International Value Stream at Smiths Power, where he successfully integrated two international business divisions spanning sales, manufacturing, and field support, delivering $14 million in sales in the first year post-acquisition.
Crespo holds an MBA in Global Management from the University of Phoenix and a degree in Telecommunications Engineering from the Engineering University of Madrid, Spain.
