POWERAhead Blog: GenFloat – Lights of the Holiday Season!

November 21, 2014

The Plug Power team is excited to be participating in the 47th Annual Gazette Holiday Parade, which will make its way through downtown Schenectady on Saturday, November 22. As a business leader in the Capital Region, Plug Power will be lighting the way for parade-goers with a GenDrive-powered float, aka GenFloat!

This year’s parade theme is “Celebrating Holiday Customs and Traditions from Around the World”. We quickly learned that global holiday customs are rooted in bright, spirited (energy-consuming) lights. So this year, Plug Power is demonstrating how the energy for lights of the holiday season can be produced by a hydrogen fuel cell.

Every single light on Plug Power’s parade float is powered by a GenDrive hydrogen fuel cell. There are approximately 4,000 lights illuminating Plug Power’s float
running off a GenDrive 3300!

Dozens of Plug Power employees (and their families) will march alongside the float, proudly showcasing the fruits of their labor throughout 2014. In addition to the impressive GenFloat vehicle, parade spectators will also enjoy magical characters, bands, marchers, dance troops, and decorated floats.

We look forward to joining our community counterparts in celebrating in this cherished Capital Region Tradition – widely recognized as the largest nighttime parade in the Northeast. We hope to see you along the parade route as we POWERAhead this holiday season!
